IT consultancy CloudStratex announces new university partnership

6th April, 2022

Ollie Tarrant

IT advisory and programme delivery specialist CloudStratex has recently partnered with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) to deliver workshops, training, and internship programmes to the next generation of IT leaders.

By forging closer connections with SHU, the client-centric firm aims to expand on its founding principle of fostering and developing talent in an increasingly competitive and high-skilled tech environment.

In the short term, CloudStratex will offer SHU students a mixture of webinars, mentoring, industry insights, and thought leadership.

As the relationship progresses, the consultancy aims to provide a robust mixture of specialised training, recruitment competitions, module sponsorships, and industry lectures.

This mutually beneficial arrangement will see SHU students gaining increased employability, routes to business, and a greatly improved student experience – while providing CloudStratex’s junior staff and generation of leaders (Gen-Ls) with management experience as they begin to take on cohorts of interns and apprentices from the university.

Gen-Ls form the basis of CloudStratex’s Talent Academy, a programme designed to correct the global IT talent shortage – not by hiring experienced practitioners, but by facilitating the growth and development of the next generation of IT superstars. The new partnership with SHU is a far-reaching extension of this ethos.

Joe Hockney, Employer Partnerships Manager at Sheffield Hallam University, said: “Here at Sheffield Hallam we partner with employers to address their skills gaps through graduate recruitment, student placements, degree apprenticeships and other initiatives. We’re so proud of our partnership with CloudStratex and especially their Talent Academy. We love to hear about SHU alumni and their valuable role within the CloudStratex team!

Fred Flack, Head of Talent Academy at CloudStratex, said: “One of our foundational principles is that businesses have a vital role to play in addressing the IT skills shortage. As such, partnering with an educational institution is a huge stride in our personal mission to foster a wealth of home-grown talent.

We’re especially pleased that Sheffield Hallam has chosen to work alongside us, given the university’s clear and admirable vision to become the world’s leading applied university. IT talent is hard to come by – but, with the right combination of education and business experience, such talent can be grown, nurtured, and unleashed into a tech environment crying out for the leaders of tomorrow.”

Established in 2019, CloudStratex provides its clients with the knowledge to sustainably achieve operational integration, efficiency, and resilience.
